Why another supercar?
Put a car from 100 years ago next to a new family saloon and on the whole, for me not a lot has changed. An engine that splits in the middle, separate radiator, removable wheels, disc brakes, solid shiny bodies, fixed geometry, seats, 4 pneumatic tyres, the categories that were then, still exist now.
Components have just been superbly refined/digitised. The electrical age has given amazing refinments but not the revolution of vehicle architecture that is possible.
If we then look to the super/hyper car end of the market, surely the composition will be more advanced? A completely different design specification? No, just further refinement.
Why does a car that can go over 250mph and cost in excess of a million pounds have the same generative wheel, brake and body as that of one that costs over £25,000?

It would seem that the Holy Grail of supercar manufacturers is to see how fast their cars can go in a straight line on a special track with special tyres, so why is there no radical dynamic change in the frontal area of the vehicle; the key factor in this challenge. What a problem to solve…. if you truly look, nature offers the fluid solutions.
With standard road car manufacture, it would appear obvious that as long as cars last a certain amount of time and people spend a percentage of their salary on them, shareholders, oil producers, and economies are content, so why change? People hand over a large part of their salary for a car that will last for a limited, pre-determined length of time, under the illusion that this will promote their individual status. What is the alternative? We should be demanding so much more!
In a world where the most succesful sports car ever has its engine in the boot and where the f! premiere class of motorsport has its vehicles looking nothing like what a fast car should look like if given a clean sheet, it no wonder we are where we are.
Why have I spent so long designing just another mid-engine sports car? Well, ideas and solutions are great but they require established companies to move them to actual fruition, the nature of my career made that not possible; companies struggling to make money from their standard products let alone new ones. The cost of patents and time taken before ideas bring in revenue is long and expensive and can be very disappointing, The challenge and enjoyment of this project was found not in the standard design of the vehicle but in the day to day living, and financing.
Any resulting oportunities gained from Xiphisternum will be chanelled into the unlimited designs I dream of.
